Microneedling, Skin Boosters or Fillers – Which Is Right for You?

If you’ve been looking in the mirror recently and feeling like your skin just isn’t quite what it used to be - a little dull, a little tired, not as firm as before, please know that you’re not alone. It’s something I hear from so many women who come into the clinic.

Life, hormones, stress, lack of sleep, it all takes its toll on our skin. But the lovely thing is, we now have some really effective, gentle treatments that can help bring back that fresh, healthy look in a way that still feels completely natural.

Three of the most popular options I offer are microneedling, skin boosters and dermal fillers. They each do different things, but they all work towards the same goal - helping you feel confident in your skin again.

Let’s talk through what each one does, who it’s best suited for, and how they can work together to give beautifully natural results.

Microneedling For Strengthening and Refreshing the Skin

If your skin’s lost its glow or feels uneven in texture, microneedling is often the best place to start.

It’s a treatment that gently stimulates your skin’s natural healing response by creating tiny microchannels on the surface. This encourages new collagen and elastin production, the two things responsible for keeping your skin firm, smooth and radiant.

Best for:

  • Uneven or rough skin texture

  • Fine lines

  • Acne scarring or enlarged pores

  • Dull or tired looking skin

Why I love it:

Microneedling helps your skin become smoother, firmer, and more even in tone. It’s brilliant for softening acne scars, improving texture and fading areas of pigmentation, while also plumping the skin from within. I love it because it doesn’t just give your skin a short term boost, it strengthens it over time, creating a healthier, more radiant base for everything else we do.

When we start with microneedling, it means any follow on treatments like skin boosters or fillers sit beautifully on top. Your skin’s already strong, smooth, and glowing, so the results look even more natural and seamless.

Skin Boosters For Deep Hydration and Natural Radiance

Once your skin is healthy and renewed, skin boosters are a lovely next step.

They’re often described as an injectable moisturiser. They don’t change your facial shape or add volume, but they deeply hydrate the skin using hyaluronic acid (a natural substance that attracts and holds water within the skin).

The result is softer, smoother, more radiant skin that feels plump and nourished from within. Treatments like Lumi Pro or Stylage Hydromax are some of my favourites because they work beautifully on all skin types and ages.

Best for:

  • Dehydrated or crepey skin

  • Fine lines from dryness

  • Dullness or loss of glow

  • Anyone wanting a healthy, hydrated look

Why I love it:

So many women come in and tell me their skin feels dry or flat, no matter what they use at home. Skin boosters help in a way that creams simply can’t - they rehydrate the skin from the inside out. When done after microneedling, the results are even better because the skin is already in a healthy, receptive state.

Dermal Fillers For Plumping and Balance

If you’ve noticed subtle changes in your face, perhaps your cheeks aren’t as full, or your jawline isn’t quite as defined, dermal fillers can help to restore that lost structure and bring balance back to your features.

They’re made from a soft hyaluronic acid gel that replaces volume where it’s been lost over time. When used carefully, fillers can lift, shape and smooth the face without ever making you look “done”.

Best for:

  • Loss of cheek or jawline definition

  • Softening deeper lines and folds

  • Restoring a natural, youthful contour

  • Subtle rejuvenation

Why I love it:

My approach with fillers is always gentle and precise. It’s not about changing your face, it’s about helping you look rested, lifted and refreshed while still looking completely like yourself. I often combine fillers with microneedling or skin boosters for the most natural, harmonious results.

How These Treatments Work Together

Each treatment has its own purpose, but they work beautifully as a trio when done in the right order.

Microneedling first – to rebuild the skin’s texture and strength.

Skin boosters next – to deeply hydrate and improve overall quality.

Then filler – to restore structure and lift, completing the picture.

This layered approach means we’re working with your skin, not against it - improving texture, hydration and definition in the most natural way possible.

Microneedling, Skin Boosters or Fillers - Finding What’s Right for You

No two faces are the same, and there’s no one size fits all when it comes to aesthetic treatments. That’s why I always start with a consultation so we can talk about your skin, your goals, and what would genuinely make you feel your best.

For some women, that might be improving texture and glow with microneedling and skin boosters. For others, it’s a touch of filler to bring back soft volume and balance. Often, it’s a little bit of each, done gently, gradually, and always with your natural beauty in mind.

At Winslow Skin & Aesthetics, my aim is simple: to help you feel like yourself again. Confident, comfortable, and happy in your own skin whatever your age, and whatever life throws your way.
